CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It refers to teaching subjects such as science, history, and geography to students through a foreign language. This can be by the English teacher using cross-curricular content or the subject teacher using English as the language of instruction. Both methods result in the simultaneous learning of content and English. The term CLIL was coined by David Marsh, University of Jyväskylä, Finland in 1994. He said that  "CLIL refers to situations where subjects, or parts of subjects, are taught through a foreign language with dual-focused aims, namely the learning of content and the simultaneous learning of a foreign language."

There are two bilingual classes in our school. One is a biotechnological class and the other is a linguistic class. Teachers of history and geography teach classes in English. Instead of studying Geography or History in the national language, pupils do it in the English language. The pupils learn the same subject concepts and skills but increase contact time with the foreign language - a crucial consideration in the improvement of educational attainment levels. CLIL can improve language and subject teaching at the same time.

The goals of bilingual education:

- implementing the core curriculum of general education in high school and providing students with the development of intellectual and language opportunities,

- achieving the level of free use of a foreign language and mastering the language database in the area of specialized vocabulary in the field of subjects being taught,

- using language as a tool to acquire general knowledge and other subjects,

- preparing students for further education to study in Poland and abroad.

Ways of implementing bilingual teaching:

- learning English for 6 hours a week divided into groups,

- use of multimedia language rooms,

- supporting students in the individual learning process,

- getting acquainted with the literature, culture, and history of English-speaking countries,

- introducing program content from selected subjects: history and geography in Polish and English,

- implementation of educational projects in the English language,

- organization of academic trips to universities with linguistic profile,

- taking part in E-twinning, Erasmus projects,

- organization of educational trips to Great Britain,

- correspondence with students from other countries in English,

- taking part in events promoting the language and culture of English-speaking countries:

English language competitions at the inter-school level, the European Day of Foreign Languages, the English Language Song Competition.
